MidiRotator by Tom Gullion

Developer Tom Gullion has released a follow-up app to Chord Rotator. MidiRotator, Universal iOS, will generate harmonies based on MIDI input.

MidiRotator iTunes Description:

MidiRotator is a harmony generator or rotator instrument. It creates harmony from a single note in a rotating mode. One voice follows the input pitch at a fixed interval and the other voice "rotates" through the pitch shift settings. This produces three output notes: the original voice, a pitch-shifted voice at a fixed interval and a third voice that changes.

SunVox developer Alexander Zolotov is getting ready to release his second hardware device, Quantum DJ! The device measures nearby electromagnetic noise to generate 1-bit sound! There's no price yet, but the Quantum VJ is $20 so it will probably be somewhere around there. Here is an example of the electromagnetic noise from Alexander's cat.

MobMuPlat Update

MobMuPlat, the mobile development platform for running Pure Data, has been updated with a few tweaks. I think it's interesting to see you can now change network protocols using code in the patches!

What's new in MobMuPlat v1.80

  • Labels can be vertically and horizontally aligned
  • Knob/Slider ranges change so that a range of "1" is 0-1 float, "2" is 0-1 integer. (Older .mmp files should continue to work correctly)
  • Network protocols can be enabled/disabled programatically.
  • Pick up Pure Data 0.47 features (i.e. the "clone" object)
  • Many fixes: networking, fonts in editor, initial sample rate display, PD object boxes with fixed width, etc.
